working outside of work

side quests that save lives

Doing the MOST

Been talking to a lot of my couple-years-outta-college friends lately, and the vibes are... not great.

They’re either:

  1. so drained from their first corporate job that they’ve already quit, or

  2. so consumed by their work that the only thing they have energy for after logging off is rotting on the couch

Now boys and girls… we’ve all been there.

That shift from school to work is def an adjustment. BUT I am a firm believer that life gets better as you get older and experience more things.

So when I hear people saying they feel like they’ve plateaued at the ripe age of 24… I’m like, girl. Stand up

I spend a lot of time working (like a normal person). And I’m no stranger to locking in on a Sunday night to prep for a few hours & occasionally burning the midnight oil to meet a deadline

But your life is so much bigger than your job. And the other parts of your life deserve your attention and effort too.

When you have more variety in your day to day, you can focus and appreciate your work more.

Or at least if you hate your job it…it’s easier to compartmentalize.

Gotta have things you’re working on that have almost nothing to do with your job or your career 👇

how life feels when you have things going on outside of work

A few of the things I’m working on outside of work:

  1. HOBBIES! Ideally, it’s something that gets you out of the house and around new people. Investing your time and money into your interests is very worth it.

My older sister took a week long trip to NYC to take an Art Business Class just because it was interesting to her.

I’ve been taking weekly dance classes at a local studio to revive something I used to love when I was a kid!!

  2. Reading! All the lawyer girls on TikTok inspire me because they're so articulate, and you just know they're reading constantly.

I’m almost done with The Creative Act, A way of Being. Next on my list: How to do Great Work

And it took one look at my heinous screen time to kick this one into gear:

be nice this is also my job !!!!! and a particularly screen-time heavy week OMG

  1. Fun side project: this newsletter!! And feeling very #blessed because I actually earned money from this newsletter for the very first time. LFG 💅

  2. Hosting era: At the start of 2025, I said I wanted to host more parties / gatherings / whatever. As the year comes to a close, I realized I did that literally one time. But there’s still year left!!

Hosting a pasta and wine party in a few weeks…HMU for the invite.

Let’s be well rounded kings and queens and invest time and effort into our entire lives

Hit reply and let me know what you’re working on outside of work :)

Your brain burns about 20–30% of your body’s energy every day….wild. So what you eat literally fuels how you think, focus, and remember stuff.

Thought I’d leave us with some goooood brain food for the week:

  • protein & healthy fat in the morning

  • green leafy veggies (kale, spinach, broccoli)

  • fish (tuna, salmon)

  • BERRIES (strawbs, blubs, rasps, etc)

Fun trend for us this week!

If you’re one of the chosen ones on TikTok over the past few days, you already know all about group 7.

It all started with musician Sophia James saying you’re in group 7 because you saw this specific video of hers (29M views rn).

And let me tell you…group 7 LOCKED IN. Basically it’s just one big inside joke on TikTok that came out of one person’s attempt to get her music out into the world.

If anyone asks, you’re in Group 7!!

wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t bring this to my place of work
