you're not too cool to care

Time to get serious
Remember growing up in school all the “coolest” kids were the ones who didn’t care about anything?
Or at least they came off super cool because they didn’t study for the test and simply could not care less about the grade they got, etc, etc.
AND people would lowkey make fun of you for trying hard, wanting to do well, and actually putting effort into something.
But as we get older, not caring is actually so embarrassing!
In my experience, it’s become a trait of people who get left behind.
Like, sorry but…. why wouldn’t you care about what you're doing every day? Why wouldn’t you care about the people you're doing it with?
And idk if any of y’all are dating right now, but I’ve personally noticed a severe lack of ambition, goals, or literally anything people are working towards (I date boys btw).
So as a collective hot girl community reading this newsletter — and also as a society — I feel like we need to find that energy repulsive. I would run for president on this platform.
You have a goal in life? That is so hot of you
You have a cool thing that you’re working on that makes you happier than anything else? Major slay
I fear we have lost the plot on the whole “nonchalant” thing. We need to be very chalant and very serious about our big goals and things we care about!
Don’t get me wrong, being serious about things does not mean giving up fun!!!
It just means that you have to create meaning from what you do every day.
IT’S COOL TO CARE 😸

when a guy is tall, older than me, HAS GOALS IN LIFE & also hair on his head

I know it seems counterintuitive to drop a TikTok in the “anti brain rot” section of this newsletter, BUT hear me out.
If you’ve ever picked up your phone to do one specific thing and then suddenly come back to life 30 minutes later deep in the scroll...this one’s for you.
Huge shoutout to my fellow social media manager homie Carmen for making this video!!
She shares a few solid swaps if you find yourself opening your phone out of muscle memory and want to cut back without going full flip phone.
(The suggestions are actually good and not just “read a book”)
But also!! Please still like and comment on every single beehiiv post you see. Balance 😌

“clock your tea” = a phrase used to describe a person catching on to the truth of the situation, especially if it’s something someone was trying to hide.
According to People, this one originates from ballroom and drag culture. It’s travelled into TikTok, meme culture & online slang more broadly.
Example:
“The passive-aggressive Slack message that said ‘per my last note😊’?
Yeah… I clocked that tea real quick.”
