a very professional work trip!

plus what's IN this hot girl summer

Happy June and happy hot girl summer to all who observe!

So excited to be back in your inbox this week. One of the staple parts of hot girl summer is bringing main character energy to everything you do— even (especially?) at work👇

A very professional work trip

Here's the thing: I actually used to hate summer (bc sweating is gross).

BUT I have a feeling that this summer is gonna be a good one. WHY?? Because mine started off with a week-long work trip to Mexico babyyyyyy 🇲🇽✨

no one is more locked in than the social media girlie with an iPhone and a vision

As many of you know I run the socials for a fully remote company. And that means when we get together IRL, it’s my literal SUPER BOWL.

There’s content to create! Moments to catch! Vibes to curate!

But the challenge is this: you’re also trying to be present and actually talk to people. Because you're not, like, the wedding photographer (even if you are the one with the tripod).

It's a balance of:

  • documenting the real moments without turning everything into a photoshoot

  • making camera-shy coworkers feel comfy on camera

  • thinking on your feet and capturing whatever chaos might unfold

imagine doing all this just for a double tap

So why is IRL content even that importnant?

What I've been thinking about a lot lately is how people connect more with “documentation” rather than "creation" of content for the sake of putting something out there.

This trip reminded me (as a recovering perfectionist) that the best content rarely comes from what you storyboard to death.

The more we can showcase our team members, the more we can create real "characters" that add texture and life to otherwise graphics-heavy social feeds. Who doesn't love some good old BTS??

Who doesn’t love some good old BTS??

Also, turns out making fun of the boss is great for impressions⬇️

the data told me!!

Hot girl summer at work isn't about controlling the narrative, it's about being the narrative (even if the audio ends up being kinda mid).

Main character energy, remember?

down: this is used as an intensifier, just emphasizing the verb before it.

Examples:

“Ate down” - means you did extremely well

She ate down on that runway (She killed it, did amazing)

“Love you down” - means love you a lot!!

Girl I love you down (I love you so much)

LOVE YOU DOWN BYE
