on break ups

and how to stay unforgettable

no contact??? not in networking

Why does leaving an internship or a job you actually like hurt worse than a breakup? 💔

Summer’s coming to a close for all my intern baddies, and trust…your goal is to make whoever you’re working with wish they could keep you forever and wanna help you out down the line.

Pretty sure every single job opportunity I’ve gotten was because I knew someone who knew someone else. Connections matter !!!

So here’s the move when you’re leaving an internship or job:
✨ Make sure they wish you could stay forever.
✨ Leave them missing you every day. You’re the one that got away, if you will.
✨ Have them still talking about you in the office while you’re off vibing with the people they connected you with.

Ideally, this your current role leads to another opportunity or you snag a return offer…here’s how to put yourself in the best position to do that:

What to do when leaving a job/internship:

1) Everyone on the internet is going to tell you to write some sort of farewell email….NOT I !!

As president of newsletter-industry-nepo-baby club, I’m here to tell you: handwrite a thank you note.

These notes are for the real ones who you worked closely with and who really made your experience better.

You can’t just write “it’s been real ✌️” Include details!!

I like to add a specific thing I learned from them, a fun memory, or a way they helped me during the internship. Of course, wrap it up by saying you’d love to stay in touch.

If you work in office, you get to be the one that hands the boss a nice little card! And if you work remote, ask for their address. Trust me.

People love being remembered & people love opening fun mail 💖

i wouldn’t tell you to do anything i wouldn’t do

2) I know I have some students who read this… so this one’s for y’all :)

Don’t be afraid to ask your manager, leadership, whoever:

“Hey, what’s the possibility of a full‑time job after my internship? Like, what would that even look like?”

Ask this about 3–4 weeks before your internship ends. Chances are, you’ll have to bring it up more than once.

They probably love having you around and want you to stay! Just make sure you:

1. Stay grateful
2. Have an idea of what you actually want to do
3. Don’t get too attached to staying there if it’s not the right fit

Opportunities are endless!

It’s way better to ask + make connections while you’re still working there than to wait until two weeks after you leave, when you’re just the “old intern who wants something.”

RULES FOR GETTING OVER A BREAKUP

For those of us in single girl summer…here are some tips to keep your focus on you💆🏻‍♀️

Get a hobby!! I beg of you

Too many baddies don’t do anything outside of work…and we need to change that. The best hobbies:

• make you happy
• keep you active
• get you out of your comfort zone
• keep you creative
• get you out of the house
• helps you make new friends

Or some combination of those. Could be anything !!

Hobbies = hot

Dress cute everywhere you go

I do not care where you are going…we are not running out the door dressed like Adam Sandler ANYWHERE.

No hate to anyone’s personal style, but you know…..look put together💅

Cute and comfortable skirt (with built in shorts) that elevates any outfit here!! You’ll get compliments every time you wear it.

GEN Z VOCAB BABY

purr: a different word to use instead of “period” or “yesss” OR a word that defines when you’re happy

Exhibit A:

“I just got my hair done purr”
