Confirm your weekend plans

It’s no secret that many of us are ambitious, goal-oriented people. We meditate, we journal, we drink the green juice.

We do the work — on ourselves, on our careers, on our skincare routines.

However… some of us have completely lost the plot when it comes to what it actually means to live your life. It’s giving epidemic.

And as the queen of this newsletter, I owe it to you, my dear constituents, to take a stance for the greater good.

Before I get too ahead of myself, let me be clear:

I am all about self-care and protecting your peace. Some quiet time. Reading a book. Writing in your journal. Eating a vegetable. All of the above.

But sometimes the answer isn’t reading one more chapter in your self help book…

It’s going to a party.

Let’s review why partying is actually good for you:

  1. It makes you commit to your plans and show up for your friends

Only losers bail last-minute because they’re “too tired.” We’ve all been there. But sometimes the plan you want to bail on is exactly the night your future self will thank you for. Being a good friend means showing up…even if it’s a little inconvenient & you’d rather be horizontal

  2. You become more present

If you can be fully present in moments of fun, you’re more likely to be present in moments of focus and productivity. Bringing your full self to things makes you better at life…this goes for the chaotic Uber ride at 1am & also the Monday morning meeting.

  3. You need stories

How else are you supposed to have fun things to talk about with work besties on Monday if all you did was sit home and knit? Let’s live a little, give them something to talk about! After all, it’s the personality hire’s role to bring a little entertainment every once in a while.

I fear resting and saying no everything turns into isolation disguised as self-care if we let the pendulum swing too far that way. A weird form of avoidance.

You heard it here first: partying is medicine for your soul.

Btw partying doesn’t have to mean drinking and going out. It’s game nights, dinner parties, dancing around the living room, taking a walk with a friend, everything social. Anything’s a party if you say it is 🫵

Work life balance isn’t just work, sleep, exercise.

It’s work, sleep, exercise and an occasional bad decision in a great outfit.

Did you know that your body doesn’t know the difference between excitement and anxiety? It’s the same exact chemicals swirling around in there.

It just depends on your brains interpretation if you feel fear or excitement. The thoughts and context shape your whole experience.

You can literally decide what story you attach to those feelings!

face card = when someone looks sooooo amazing. their appearance speaks for itself! often as a compliment on social media or IRL

Examples:

  • Face card is TEA😍

  • Face card never declines

Other example of a lethal face card? Yours, probably.
