crashing out in All Hands
what made me rethink my entire personality
The jester’s privilege
You know when you say something and then just immediately regret it? Yeah.
I’ll do you one better:
You know when you say something you thought was peak (dry) humor on a full company all-hands with like 100 people… but then the vibes feel slightly off? So you start second-guessing the delivery of every joke you’ve ever made and silently spiral over whether the entire company now thinks you’re rude?
Maybe slightly more niche. Ha.
As you may have guessed, that exact thing happened to me.
I like to think I’m a pretty funny girl. But over Google Meet idk if my joke vibes are always clearly articulated.
And this time I could NOT read the room
Cue the inner monologue: oh my god what if everyone thinks I’m the village bitch.
Then came the crash-out.
What if I actually can’t read the room?
What if I’ve never been able to read the room??
So I did the only thing I could do: Slack the homies
After frantically asking if I was rude or funny (or both), they replied with this:

shoutout Francis✊
So why am I sharing all this?
1) As your weekly reminder that you shouldn’t be afraid to have fun at work — and if you’re lucky enough to have the social license that comes with being the jester, you should embrace it and not second guess yourself.
2) Because even baddies flop or misread things sometimes but that doesn’t mean you’ve lost the plot!! It’s all about showing up with just enough play to remind everyone else they can play too.
CHARACTER BUILDING ERA
As you may or may not have heard…there was SO MUCH flooding in Central Texas over the 4th of July weekend…
Tons of water damage throughout the community. Here’s a pic of my bedroom ceiling yesterday:

hit reply if you can teach me literally anything about sheet rock 😄
#ItsFine #CharacterBuildingExperience #StillSlaying
BUT this is definitely not the worst tragedy of the weekend…lots of people in the community need WAY more help than I do.
When Where What Austin compiled hundreds of ways to help the Hill Country here if you’d like to contribute❤️
GEN Z VOCAB BABY
Crashing out: you’re losing your composure due to stress / overwhelm. Can also mean you’re having a sudden, uncontrolled outburst of anger or distress, often leading to impulsive (and potentially regretful) actions.
Sometimes even makes you send messages like these to your friends:

thank you to this queen for listening to me for 3 mins & 36 seconds
Example:
“He crashed out and broke his tennis racket after losing the game.”
See ya next time!
Xoxo,
Bella Rose
