being vulnerable on the main

even personality hires get stressed

2 years post grad diaries

Not to flex or anything, but I recently celebrated 2 years running socials at beehiiv 🥳

So much of the experience has been nothing short of amazing…we have accomplished so much for the brand and the community and the vibes!!!

But to be so real: nothing in the world could have prepared me for the adjustment of 1) having a job, and 2) that job giving me extreme ownership of 6 social channels from day one… when in my head I was literally just a girl.

If I’m being completely honest, when I first started at beehiiv I had no idea what I was getting into lol

There were so many days I felt like nothing I did was good enough. I’d cry multiple times a week (hahaha) and tell myself if I just worked earlier and later, it would somehow mean I was making a bigger impact.

Spoiler: that’s not how creative work (or life) works.

At least 22-year-old me popped off on Twitter in my first month at beehiiv, so that boosted my confidence for like… 0.5 seconds.

I was pregnant with this very newsletter + beehiiv’s employee advocacy program here

Of course I was capable (we’re all capable of anything), but the reality of it hit fast. The best way to sum up my first 6 months is with one phrase:

“Holy shit 😭

I truly had no clue how to handle the stress of a super fast-paced environment where I was responsible for what felt like 47236457624852 pieces of content every week

selfie from December 2023, crashing out over an Instagram reel about email software

Since then, I’ve gotten a lot better at handling stress!

Yoga — sounds performative, but honestly the best thing it’s taught me is how to linger in uncomfortable positions and just breathe through them. Even when it’s hard, there’s always a release eventually, and you always come out of uncomfortable situations okay!!! So true in work, relationships, and life.

Tuesday coffee shop ritual — every week I head downtown, post up at my favorite coffee shop, and order the dirtiest, freakiest little iced chai. Changing my environment regularly really works wonders.

Creativity is a flow state — I don’t force work just during the 9-5 work day. If I get a great idea at 11pm or on a Saturday, I’ll always follow this inspiration to create. Giving myself that flexibility is so much better for momentum and fun.

And now instead of “holy shit😭,” it’s:

It is so cool to be trusted with so much important work!

And hey….still turning everyone into a girlie in 2025:

some things never change 🫶

UNROT YOUR BRAIN

One of the hottest things you can do is learn new things. Hot girls are smart girls!

New thing I’ve learned about recently: neuroplasticity

It’s the brain’s ability to create new pathways and neural circuits through your behavior.

By constantly learning new things and being in situations that are unfamiliar to your brain, you can break negative patterns and form new positive habits.

The craziest part to me is that you can continue to change and build your brain throughout your whole life, you’re never stuck with the brain you’re born with.

You are so in control of the person you are!

GEN Z VOCAB BABY

Opp: Short for opponent or opposition. This refers to someone who’s your enemy or rival, or someone you may just have conflict with.

Example: “Guys…my opp is going to be at the party Friday night. Need an amazing outfit so I look better than them.”

See you next week!!

Xoxo,
